Our Director, Ms. Florence Namaganda was awarded this prestigious award at the Segal Family Foundation AGM in Rwanda. Florence understands the depths of despair better than most. Raised in the challenging environs of a Kampala slum, she thought she had witnessed life’s darkest moments. However, her perspective shifted when she encountered parents grappling with the realities of raising children with disabilities. Their anguish was palpable, their struggles profound, compounded by lack of social support, societal stigma, and isolation
Witnessing the erosion of hope in these parents ignited a fervent determination within Florence. She recognized the urgent need to restore dignity, illuminate pathways out of darkness, and empower these families to reclaim their dreams and voices. Armed with her freshly acquired skills from physiotherapy school and a heart brimming with compassion, Florence embarked on a mission to uplift one parent at a time, leveraging her skills, time, boundless love and hope.
Over the span of 18 years, Florence’s tireless efforts have borne fruit, touching the lives of thousands of children and families. Through her unwavering commitment, hope has been reignited, dignity restored, and communities transformed into nurturing havens. Florence’s unwavering belief in fighting for the rights, hopes, and dreams of every individual has sparked a ripple effect of positive change.
